MEETING WITH HONORARY CITIZEN OF OPATIJA LENNART KARLSSON

Deputy Mayor of Opatija Marina Gašparić met Lennart Karlsson, honorary citizen of Opatija, which earned this title in year 2009.

Swede Lennart Karlsson decades before gaining this title, was a great friend of Opatija.  He visited Opatija for the first time in year 1964 as a tour guide and since then -  he returned every year. During his working life he worked for one of the world's largest shipping company Stena Line and then promoted Opatija in Sweden and Scandinavia.

Lennart Karlsson is still a regular guest of Opatija and on yesterday's meeting, where Deputy Mayor Gašparić conveyed greetings from Mayor Ivo Dujmić to Mr. Karlsson. Karlsson was accompanied by Katarina Hauptfeld and Marina Gašparić and they recalled some common past, he inquired what is the situation today as far as tourist visits to the city and he enjoyed as always in our city.
