TRSTENO ARBORETUM & THE TOWN OF STON
The tour begins with a leisurely stroll through Trsteno's renowned arboretum. At over 500 years old and housing more than 300 species of exotic tree and plant life, the arboretum is widely acknowledged as one of the finest gardens in Europe. After an exploration of the botanical garden, the tour moves to Ston. This historic town is surrounded by a 5km long fortified wall, the second longest in the world after the Great Wall of China, which was originally erected in 1358 to protect the town. Now, over 20 towers still remain and the wall represents an impressive flashback to the past. Having worked up your appetite, your tour then moves on to Ston's ancient salt pans which are still being worked today after over 2,000 years and, unusually, are home to an oyster farm. Thanks to the unique ecological balance of the area, the farm grows a variety of oyster that have died out elsewhere making these a truly special delicacy. |

SEA KAYAKING: DUBROVNIK
